나에게(Dear Self): 2022 Reflections
나에게,
2022 has been a whirlwind of ups and downs for you.
You moved to your birth country. You lost another parent. You reached your goal of traveling to 30 different countries before turning 30. You experienced what it feels like to be alone in a country where you don’t speak the same language. You let go of friends who weren’t supportive of your decisions. You performed in your first-ever Bachata performance. You learned about co-dependency and overcame a very toxic relationship. You found a community of people who understands the complexity of having a mixed identity. You searched for more information about your birth mother and received some answers to questions you have been wondering about your entire life.
Most importantly, you were able to find liberation and healing in ways you didn't even know existed. You learned the value and importance of self-love. You learned to put yourself first, how to be selfish, how to grieve the life you once had, and open yourself up to new opportunities. You let go of things you could not control and found happiness in the small day-to-day things. You were authentically you no matter what anyone thought and you learned how to be fearless.
2022 may not have been everything you wished and hoped for, but it was everything you needed. My love, I promise 2023 will be even better. Trust that what is meant to be will happen. Open yourself up to whatever adventures lie ahead. Continue to love and let others love you in return. You don’t have to carry the world on your shoulders. You have people who care about you. Let them in. Let them be there to support you.
Continue to learn how to be vulnerable. How to push past your fears and your constant overthinking. Find moments where you can celebrate your accomplishments. Be easy on yourself. You are human. You are pursuing this life journey and you’re coming home to yourself. You are learning what you need to heal, liberate, and love yourself.
Continue to find joy in small day-to-day moments. Be happy. Be fearless. Be unapologetically you!
2023 will be your year.
Sincerely,
Me
